Coupling capacitors made by NTC are utilized in telecommunication circuits of substations and high voltage power line cables (PLC). Their external insulation is made of ceramic or silicon insulators, and similar to Capacitive Voltage Divider (CVD), the design of these capacitors is without a medium voltage terminal.
The insulation used in coupling capacitors encompasses a perfect blend of a special paper impregnated with synthetic oil and a polypropylene plastic tape. This combination leads to the capacitor being impervious to temperature variations. It is worthwhile mentioning that in most cases, the line trap can be directly installed on the coupling capacitors.
